Weather and Geography
London is the capital city of England with the River Thames going through central London. Summertime temperatures are usually in the 60's and 70's. Winter temps cool off a bit dipping down into 30's at night and the 40's during the day. London is very seasonal with about 2 - 3 inches of rain a month however heavy rain downpours are rare.

  • The Tower of London has been a palace, a castle and a prison during its 1000 years of existence and is a spectacular sight to see for those interested in learning a little bit of history on the area.
  • Tate Britain Gallery contains modern art works of Dali, Matisse and Picasso. Art lovers will want to set aside a good chunk of time to see the works.
  • Although its something most visitors like to do, take in the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. It's something you've got to do at least once in your life.
  • Visit the Dicken's Museum - especially if you have children with you. During the week of Christmas the building is decorated like Dicken's first Christmas there. It's truly an experience.
  • Visit Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. It's a must visit if you've never been to London before.
  • Take in a performance in London's West End. London has some of the most amazing offerings for plays, musicals and dramas.
  • Westminster Abbey should be on your itinerary if you're interested in culture. It is the site where many kings and queens have been crowned.






Tourism in the UK showed a downturn in the first part of the 1990s and the period has been described as encompassing the most traumatic years in recent history for UK hoteliers. However, by 1995 the volume of tourism had recovered the levels of the late 1980s and it continued to grow.
